Also known as IFRI Founded in 1979 and directed by Thierry de Montbrial Leading independent research and debate institution in France Dedicated to the analysis of international issues

Aim To foster constructive dialog between researchers, analysts and policymakers from the international arena. To lead in-depth independent policy-oriented studies on today's main international issues.

IFRI Debates IFRI's research is enriched by the debates it organizes in a non-partisan and informal context. These debates are vital in developing closer relationships between researchers and decision-makers from the private and public sector

over 1,150 conferences 95 international symposiums 380 meetings All involving French and foreign prominent figures.

IFRI Today Composed of around 70 dedicated staff
This includes 35 French and international researchers Ifri's experts are involved in major international networks and communicate on a regular basis with their foreign counterparts The 'policy-oriented‘ aspect of IFRI research is organized around different regional and cross-disciplinary research areas

IFRI Publications IFRI's research and debate are covered in the institute's various collections Also in top publications such as Quarterly journal Politique Etrangere the oldest French journal on international affairs Annual report RAMSES Combines a factual analysis of events, a critical assessment of the past year and perspectives for the following year.

Relations IFRI is COMPLETELY independent from all administrative and financial regulatory authorities and has no affiliation with any political party. Their research teams are made up of over thirty-five French and foreign researchers. 50% of whom are under the age of 40.

Outside of Research Each year IFRI organizes several international conferences and debates with the participation of key French and international figures. Guests include the head of state of these countries: Afghanistan, Russia, Iraq, Georgia, Senegal, Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Iran, Croatia, Liberia, Turkey, Serbia, Cyprus, Estonia and Pakistan

IFRI Conclusion In 2010, for the third consecutive year, Ifri was the only French based research institution to be ranked among the top 50 most influential think tanks worldwide outside of the United States placing 3rd in Western Europe and 8th globally
