Differences might be defined in terms of physical, economic, environmental, political, or social/cultural characteristics

Human Environment Interaction
The way humans depend upon, adapt to, and modify the environment Examples for Greater Vancouver Trading by way of water Fishing

Movement The varied patterns in the movement of life forms, ideas, and materials Examples Highways, Rivers, etc.

Regions Basic units of study that define an area with certain human and/or physical characteristics Examples: Greater Vancouver The Fraser Valley Lower Mainland

Application As a practice assignment, think about the area in which we live: White Rock/South Surrey, B.C. Now apply the five themes of geography to our city
