Differences might be defined in terms of physical, economic, environmental, political, or social/cultural characteristics

4 Human Environment Interaction
The way humans depend upon, adapt to, and modify the environment Examples for Greater Vancouver Trading by way of water Fishing

5 Movement The varied patterns in the movement of life forms, ideas, and materials Examples Highways, Rivers, etc.

6 Regions Basic units of study that define an area with certain human and/or physical characteristics Examples: Greater Vancouver The Fraser Valley Lower Mainland

7 Application As a practice assignment, think about the area in which we live: White Rock/South Surrey, B.C. Now apply the five themes of geography to our city
