It was to show people how much of a struggle it was to be an American!
Segregation and unfair treatment of migration between the whites and the Hispanic.

4. Summary
In this story you hear about a family that just moved to America for the Dominican Republic. They have four daughters who love to watch the miss America pageant. They do whatever they can to like a American girl. The girls are sad they cant be a miss America because they are Hispanic. In the end the are proud of who they are!
