3. 1.0: Course Description
It covers major aspects of reading, writing and speaking.
It also includes sub-skills of grammar and dictionary skill.
This course is designed to enhance students’ English language proficiency and communicative ability.
This course will adopt a learner-centred approach to help students attain good command of the English language.

4. 1.0: Course Description
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to;
Develop English reading, writing, listening and speaking skill with particular emphasis in communicative skills.
Use English in everyday situation.
Understand various grammatical items and use them appropriately in speech and written work.

5. 2.0: Course requirements Final Exam : 50 % Coursework : 50 %
MyLinE Quizzes (5%)
Classroom Assignment (10%)
Mid-semester Test %
Oral Presentation – 15 %

6. 3.0: Course Requirement 1) Attendance:
75 % attendance is the course requirement
Make sure to sign the attendance sheet for each class.
Students must attend 75% of the lecture hours, failing will result in being barred from taking final examination or automatically dropped from the course.

7. Course requirement: Absenteeism (25%) with permission includes:
Medical leave
Days off to present university

8. Course requirement:
Warning letter will be issued to students whose attendance is unsatisfactory.
2 times absent without reason/ permission : 1st Warning Letter
3 times absent without reason/ permission : 2nd Warning Letter
4 times absent without reason/ permission : 3rd Warning Letter
Student who absent 3 times/ 6 class hours without logical reason will be BARRED from sitting the final exam or automatically dropped from this course.

9. Course requirement 2)Test
There will be no replacement except for the following reason:
Serious illness which require hospitalization
Death of close relatives.
**Please inform instructor before the test so that make-up test will be arranged.

10. Course requirement 3) Oral Presentation
If students fail to attend on the presentation day, students will get ZERO for that particular presentation.

11. Details of the coursework: oral Presentation 15%
Roleplay
4 – 5 students in one group.
Students will be assigned a topic during the test.
Students are required to discuss on the issue given.
Fail to attend class without proper reason (MC and excuse letters are needed) = ZERO

12. Details of the coursework: On-going Assessments (15 %)
i) Essay (10%)
Students are instructed to write out an ESSAY between words. The essay will be written in class. If the student failed to attend the class on the day everyone write the essay without proper reason (MC and excuse letters are needed), the student will get ZERO.
ii) MyLinE (5%)
Students are assigned tasks in MyLinE, the national Online Resources for learning in English at

13. Mid-Semester Test: (20 %)
Test will assessed skills in grammar and reading skills.
Format: fill in the blanks, multiple choice, completing tables, true/ false, and error identification.
Fail to attend the test without proper reason (MC and excuse letters are needed) = ZERO

14. Final Exam(50 %):
Is comprehensive. Cover every topic taught throughout semester.

15. Course requirement Other Requirement: Be PUNCTUAL for all classes.
Read textbook and complete all tasks BEFORE coming to class.
Strongly advised to bring own dictionary to class.
Copying in exam and assignment will not be tolerated and will be awarded with ZERO.
