3 Anxiety Disorders Primary symptoms are anxiety or defenses against anxiety. the patient fears something awful will happen to them. is a state of intense apprehension, uneasiness, uncertainty, or fear.

4 Generalized Anxiety Disorder

5 GAD Excessive anxiety more days than not for 6 months
Difficult to control worry Associated w/ three symptoms Restlessness Fatigued Difficulty focusing Irritability Muscle tension Sleep disturbance Distressing

Anxiety is comorbid w/ most other disorders.

8 PTSD Exposure to actual/threatened death, injury, sexual violence
Recurrently, invoulntary, intrusive memories of event Intense/prolonged psychological distress Physiological reactions to things related to event Avoidance of stimuli associated w/ event Alterations in cognition/mood after event Duration is 1+ months

9 Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

10 OCD Obsessions Compulsions Os and Cs are time consuming (1+ hour)
Recurrent/persistent thoughts Attempts to ignore/suppress thoughts w/ actions Compulsions Repetitive behaviors to aleiviate stress Os and Cs are time consuming (1+ hour) Distressing

12 Specific Phobias Fear of specific object/situation
Object/situation provokes immediate fear/anxiety Object/situation is actively avoided Completely irrational Avoidance lasts 6+ months

Criteria for phobias regards one or more social situations Could be public speaking, could be enclosed spaces with strangers, could be meeting new people, could be public places… Causes impairment
