Goal and Objectives Goal: Change priority of focus to data in all of our practices. Objectives: Review five practical data- collection methods. Learn to use data for changing instructional plans. Plan a data method to use this year.

1. Formative Unit Pre-Tests for Remediation Ahead
Test all unit standards Can be objective or subjective Provide feedback right away Post worst two target skills with percentages Constantly plan lessons to target these skills DAILY Put discussions, learning, and mastery on the kids--their level of work will dictate their level of growth.

2. Weekly Formative Checks on Target Skills
Assess current Standards, not old or new Objective, not subjective Short and sweet Check and provide feedback in one hour Discuss good and bad--always go back to the standard

3. Summative Unit Exams for Remediation Behind
Test all unit standards Can be objective or subjective Provide feedback right away Post worst two target skills with percentages Constantly plan lessons to target these skills DAILY Put discussions, learning, and mastery on the kids--their level of work will dictate their level of growth.

4. Open Assessments: Get Good Data for Growth
Determine which skills to assess Write questions with standards in mind--and revise Tell kids what will be assessed ahead of time Make a chart in Sheets or Excel Grade Accordingly Tell kids all data, except grades

5. Data-Driven Lesson Planning: Remediation
Keep low skills at desk and read every day Plan weekly lessons with skills in mind-- and revise Plan data talks, formative checks, and student activities CONSTANTLY Put plan on self; put success and work on kids

6. Data Wall: TALK TO YOUR KIDS!!!!
Weekly short talks Monthly medium talks Quarterly long talks ALWAYS stop and talk for success--but be honest Pinterest!!!!

7. Report Card Data: CALL HOME!!!
Run progress reports AT LEAST every three weeks Call home on all failing grades Post class averages on data wall Demand success

8. Next Step: Student Data Analysis
Make students run the numbers Make students chart the growth Make students run the wall Have students write individualized goals for personal growth Put the work on the students as much as possible
