CLO: Today you will, orally, justify your opinion using content from the book as a support in a Socratic Seminar with expanding discussion card questions and phrases such as “While ________ makes a good point, it appears to me that…” or “I would like to challenge that idea by saying that…”

2. Poetry Analysis Gallery Walk
Look at the annotations from all three sections of the poem
Take notes on these sections in your note-catcher (from last class) 12 minutes
Turn the page and answer question on the back: Why did Achebe choose the title for his book from this poem? Connect the poem to the book using specific phrases and events from the poem and the book. 10 minutes
Turn the packet in the period basket when you finish.

3. Socratic Seminar EVERYBODY will sit in inner and outer circle to speak
Use notes! Use your text!
Do not use “I feel” or “I think” – Look at the discussion cards for assistance
Outer circle will mark # of times the inner circle person speaks
15-17 minutes for each circle
Turn in “An African Voice” packet (homework from 2/27) after discussion
6 times max for speaking

3-4 times = B
2 times = C
1 time = D
0 times = F

4. Socratic Seminar Reflection
If you did not finish the reflection during class today, you will need to complete this as homework and turn it in on Monday, March 9, 2015.
You have 10 days to finish your final project
HOMEWORK DUE ON 3/9/15 – bring your PLAN for the final project (outline, examples, visual/creative ideas on paper, etc.)
