Overall, this new technology (railroads, steel, oil, and electricity) was good for America. The best way for government to help business and promote industrialization is to leave it alone, to do nothing. It is the government’s role to help workers and the public when they were hurt during the process of industrialization. It is a person’s responsibility to take care of themselves. If a person is down on their luck, they must pick themselves up by their own “bootstraps” and make something of themselves. There should be no government safety-net or welfare.
