2. Step #1: Above the “name” blank…
Write the DEFINITION of a PHRASE
Phrase = a group of related words that function as ONE part of speech.
(Explanation: a few words like “around the tree” for instance, work together. If I say, “The cat ran around the tree,” my phrase acts as an ADVERB describing WHERE the cat RAN.)

3. #2 Fold your foldable (“hot dog” style) and label prepositional phrases
Look at the series of rectangles after you fold your foldable.
Each one is divided into 2 triangles.
On the first upper triangle, write neatly…
PREPOSITIONAL
Under the word, in the triangle below, write neatly…
BEGIN WITH A PREPOSITION!! (then list as many prepositions as you can)
In, at, to, from, for, of, into, around, across, about, behind, beyond, under, over, above, below, in, toward, with, without, etc.

4. #3 Open your foldable and in the top two boxes write examples/info for prepositional phrases

Example: The ladybug landed on my arm.
(begins with “on”, tells WHERE the bug landed = adverb).
The ladybug on my arm is huge!
(describes the noun ladybug,, telling WHICH ONE = adjective)
Prep. Phrases can be used as ADVERBS or ADJECTIVES (see sentence examples to the left) They ALWAYS begin with a PREPOSITION!!!!!
