1. Setting up Your Timeline
Take two sheets of paper (8 ½ X 14).
Fold the sheet along the Y axis into 1/3rds (skinny) and cut along the folds.
Glue the ends of the paper together to make one long strip for the timeline (6 pieces wide).
Use the meter stick to draw a across (horizontally) the center of the strips.
Do everything in pencil first Mark every 5 cm beginning with 2300BC.
Create a key in the lower left hand corner:
5 cm = 100 years

2. Setting up Your Timeline
Trace line in black
Leave 100 year increments in pencil
For each “event” write the date in red, the event, the person/group’s name and the vessel associated with the event in pencil. Use drop down/up lines if necessary to avoid crowding.
Highlight people/groups’s names with yellow or pink highlighter.
Underline vessel/ship’s names.
