Skill: Drawing Conclusions
Drawing conclusions means forming reasonable opinions after thinking about facts and details in what you are reading and considering what you already know Ex: What conclusion might you draw if you read about a character waving and racing after a bus? Read “Twice Lost; Twice Won” pg. 451

Story Structure Examining a story’s structure can help you draw conclusions about characters and why certain events happen Plot is important to a story’s structure Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution Most stories are arranged sequentially

Conventions: Prepositions
A preposition shows a relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence, such as a verb, adjective, or other noun Ex: The boy placed the book on the table. A prepositional phrase begins with a preposition and usually ends with a noun or pronoun
