WHY INDEPENDENCE?? Cause #1: Mexicans resented the inequality. Spaniards who weren’t even from Mexico were put in charge of New Spain. Spaniards got all the good jobs (power) and privileges (money)

3 Cause #2: Spain raised the taxes in Mexico
WHY INDEPENDENCE?? Cause #2: Spain raised the taxes in Mexico Spain made the people in Mexico pay for the “Seven Years War” going on in Europe!

4 TIMELINE 1810 1812 Miguel Hidalgo calls for Mexicans to rebel against Spanish rule 1813 In Texas, Gutierrez and Magee lead a revolt against Spin and WIN!! 1819 Battle of Medina: Republican Forces lost BIG TIME to the Spanish Loyalist Army James Long, an American filibuster, tried to free Texas from Spain Hidalgo, Gutierrez & Long were ALL considered FILIBUSTERS or REVOLUTIONARIES!
