INTASC STANDARD #5: The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues. . Name of Artifact: Personal Statement Date: March 18, 2015 Course: EDUC 101: Introduction to Teaching Description: This is a week 9, Personal Statement PowerPoint I developed for my Introduction to Teaching course at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis, IN. It required me to explore and learn about my own ideas and methods on education based on previous assignments, projects, service learning, and discussions with my classmates. Rationale: To document my understanding of InTASC Standard #5, Application of Content, I have selected to include a Personal Statement that demonstrates my understanding on how to connect certain concepts. It also demonstrates how I will use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving.
