Function The purpose of this system is to:

Terms Comparison of internal environment of cell to solution
Isotonic - concentration are equal in and out. Hypertonic - concentration outside is greater than inside. Hypotonic - concentration inside is greater than outside.

Solutions Uniform mixtures of two or mores substances. They may be solids, liquids, gases, or a combination. Solute - dissolved substance. Solvent - substance that solute is dissolved in. ie salt=solute, water=solvent
