MONOCHROMATIC PAINTING

Monochromatic Painting
A monochrome or monochromatic painting is one created using only one color or hue. ... As a tool, monochrome painting can be used to create a dramatic effect.

Guernica Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso (October 25, 1881 to April 8, 1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer considered one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century and the co-creator, along with Georges Braque, of Cubism. Considered radical in his work, Picasso continues to garner reverence for his technical mastery, visionary creativity and profound empathy. For nearly 80 of his 91 years, Picasso devoted himself to an artistic production that he superstitiously believed would keep him alive, contributing significantly to — and paralleling the entire development of — modern art in the 20th century.

CUBISM In cubist artworks, objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form—instead of depicting objects from one viewpoint, the artist depicts the subject from a multitude of viewpoints. The background and object planes interpenetrate one another to create the shallow ambiguous space, one of cubism's distinct characteristics.
