2. Goal Setting Independent Learners set academic goals for each class
Goals set are realistic and attainable with effort and persistence
Goals are reviewed and adjusted as needed

3. Homework Independent Learners ALWAYS have homework!
Homework is YOUR practice of skills taught in class. In order to meet your goal you must work diligently on your homework.
Review classwork and then begin homework. If your notes do not help go to other resources to guide your work.

4. Homework You MUST show all work for credit and complete ALL problems.
When no assignment is given, your homework is to review your
classwork, quizzes, and practice
problems.

5. Stay organized Use your agenda daily
Your math folder should always have the current unit being covered in class.
File completed math units at home.

Check websites recommended by the Math Department found on the Math Department website
Internet (Google topic)
Phone a friend
Parents ( go to LAST)

7. Grading 50% Tests 40% Quizzes 10% Homework (Homework average should be
a 100% from doing all homework
each day and showing work.)

8. Summary
In summary, as an sixth, seventh, or eighth grade independent learner you should be:
Self-motivated (don’t need teacher or parent to tell you when to do something)
Self-directed (don’t need teacher or parent to tell you what to do)
