6. All of our quadrilaterals have 4 sides and at least 1 pair of parallel sides. When a shape has one or more sets of parallel sides it is called a TRAPEZOID (some shapes might also be a more familiar shape, such as a square or rectangle)

1. Draw a straight, horizontal line segment.
2. Draw a line segment that is parallel to the first line segment.
3. Draw a third segment that crosses both.
4. Draw a fourth line segment that crosses the first two line segments and is parallel to the third line segment.

8. If a quadrilateral has TWO PAIRS of parallel lines, it is called a PARALLELOGRAM.

1. Draw a straight, horizontal line segment that is exactly 4 squares long.
2. Draw a line segment that starts from the end of your line segment and goes exactly 4 squares down.
3. On the other end of your original line segment draw a line segment that goes exactly 4 squares down.
