Columbian Exchange The Columbian Exchange refers to a period of cultural and biological exchanges between the New and Old Worlds. It is a time when exchanges of plants, animals, diseases and technology transformed European and Native American ways of life.

Overview: Students will complete a simulation of the Columbian exchange, respond to WH and Env. Science questions.

Env. Sci students will start E. Hemisphere.
How it works: Students receive 24 cards representing one biological item from one hemisphere transferred during the Columbian Exchange. WH students will start W. Hemisphere.

1. Student’s goal is to exchange 23 of their cards with other students to assemble a complete inventory of biological items using the checklist. Students earn 3 points for each item, and 28 bonus points for a complete inventory. Time Limit 24 hours. 2.Students lose five points for each infected trade item in their inventory at the end of the trading period Grade will come from responses to the questions.
