Drivers and parameters for a new site
Current CMS: end-of-life, end of support Dec. 2016 New Federal Corporate Design (CD Bund) Users: a clear trend from Desktop to mobile Our main task: answering questions to society, telling stories out of data Simple presentation of content fosters improved findability More interactivity, more attractive visualizations More individual content for specific user groups (not everything for all) A central website between Social Media, apps and other dedicated websites Open data portal opendata.swiss opens new access to data CMS Software must be updated regularly (not by FSO) Future content migration should not be dependent on CMS Software any more Scarcety of both core and decentralized capacities

A new CMS, a new service provider A new Digital Asset Management, clearly separated from CMS Increased data-based publishing for most pages; consistent use of Web Service technologies facilitate future migration Clear reduction of contents, revised structure of contents, enhanced search algorithms, Search Engine Optimization SEO Implementation of new Web Guidelines for the Confederation Optimization of website for tablets and smartphones (Responsive Design), allowing for Social Media functionalities Better access to data for third parties (e.g. Open Data portal)

Conclusions / feedback
The system works . Not a single incident since start. Increased number of pageviews, esp. from mobile devices. Increased number of downloads. Positive feedback from partners, stakeholders and management. Almost no user feedback. No news is good news?
