1 Real Class Observation through LS: The Effective Way to Enhance the Competencies of Prospective Teachers Anna Permanasari *). Science Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia *) Science Education, Universitas Pakuan Bogor, West Java-Indonesia

2 Skills based on Character Qualities: Fundamental Literacies
BACK GROUND Competencies: Critical thinking, creativity, problem solving Skills based on Character Qualities: Curiosity, initiatives, persistence, adaptability, leadership, social and culture awareness Fundamental Literacies Science, Reading, math, ICT, technology Ways of Living Skills: Communication, collaboration 21st Century Skills

3 Perspective teaher competencies
Teacher competencies Perspective teaher competencies LESSON STUDY COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITY

4 In Context: Science prospective teacher (undergraduate)
Content knowledge Pedagogical knowledge Pedagogical content knowledge GAP TEACHING SIMULATION TEACHING PRACTISE

5 CLASSROOM OBSERVATION
CK,PK,PCK CLASSROOM OBSERVATION TEACHING SIMULATION Treatment CO-1 REF-1 CO-2 REF-1 CO-3 REF-3 PRETEST TEST-1 TEST-2 TEST-3

6 LESSON STUDY VS CLASS ROOM OBSERVATION
Did The Three steps: Teachers Headmaster Expert/ Facilitators Plan Do See Prospective Teachers Observed The Real Lesson And Followed The Reflection

7 Averages SCORE (max score: 100)
Result SKILLS Averages SCORE (max score: 100) Questions Before T After T-1 After T-2 After T3 Analyzing teaching learning based on teaching description 40,0 65 75 78 Based on the text, what is the model, the strategy, and the approach used along the learning? Proposing the argumentation 35,5 50 70 80 Why did you choose those? Developing the lesson plan 55 85 Make the lesson plan on the subject ... ; choose the appropriate model, strategy and approach those can be used relevant to subject. The readiness of student doing the simulation*) 40 60 92 Do you think that you have now ready to make the lesson plan and do the simulation? Number of student: 25 *). Percentage of Student

8 Trend of achievement NOTED:
Number of student: 25 (grade 2, semester 6) S-20: still confuse about the models of teaching, not good enough in making lesson plan S-12: Less active in proposing argumentation, but good in making lesson plan S-05: Top scorer in every aspect

9 Lesson learnt Giving student only knowledge is not enough
Student has to be closer with the real situation on teaching learning, before they do the teaching-learning it self. Classroom observation and the series of reflection make student be able to analyze, to synthesize, to propose the argument better than. Classroom Observation make student more confident to do the simulation

10 CONCLUSION Lesson study activity can be used as a vehicle to enhance the Competencies of prospective science teachers (Best Practise: Drink while diving) After a series of lectures on CK, PK, and PCK, The strategy CO-Reflection co-inside with LS activity made student gaining more opportunity to deeper understanding on how to applied the theories into practise CO-Reflection co-inside with LS made the science prospective teachers ready to do the teaching simulation

11 Thank you………!!
