General statement Narrow down with pertinent background information. You will also need to define any terms you may be using. Get to your thesis

Think about . . . How can you introduce your subject matter in a general yet interesting way? What information should you include? A good rule of thumb assume your reader has read the work in question, and he/she just needs reminding

With a partner Write an introduction to the pretend essay you wrote . . . Skip lines!!

Now, exchange introductions.
1. Look at this introduction and read it aloud to your partner. 2. Does it begin with a general statement? 3. Does it draw the reader in? 4. Is there some basic background information? 5. Is the thesis correct? Make some general comments on this.

Return the intro to its original owners
*Fix it!! (you can just insert things where needed) *We will share in 7 minutes.
