1. Canadian, eh?

2. Mission Statement
In this world of infinite possibilities and potential, I am only a small part in a great thing that is our earth. During the last bit of time I have before going into the real world, I want to find out my purpose in life. While I do not currently know exactly what it is that I want to do to contribute to this society, I know that I want everything that I do to be productive toward the advancement of mankind, and to show exemplary character so that I may one day be a role model for someone.

3. History part 1
French settlements in North America started to grow with the arrival of Cartier and Champlain. The first phase of the building of New France was the exploration of the land licensed by the crown of France. According to Scott, the second phase of the building of New France occurred when “the crown intervened directly and began to encourage, incent and send settlers, support and resources to the settlements. ”

4. History Part 2 Canada was founded by the British North American Act
Canada based many of its official documents off of the ones of Great Britain and France.
“The first session of the New Parliament of Canada began on December 4th, 1867”(Scott, Nation Building).

5. Interview
I interviewed my mom, who lived in Canada during her childhood
I asked what school was like, what she did as a child, if she liked it better here or there, and other questions about living in Canada at our age
She had mostly very interesting stories about herself

6. Canada Today
*“Uhh it’s cold”(Lisa Campbell) *Canada is a bilingual country; its two official languages are English and French *The Prime Minister is Stephen Harper *According to the writer of the Find Universities webpage, “Canadian culture has historically been heavily influenced by British and French cultures and traditions.”

7. What’s it like living there?
As my mom stated, “I lived in a highly Catholic neighborhood with old people so home life wasn’t interesting.” She also claimed that there were many people like herself who “would sneak out at night and go ice fishing on the lake where they were supposed to play hockey.”

8. Common associations with Canada
Cultural products in Canada are “fundamental to a sense of Canadian identity and community”(‘Culture’).

9. Reflection
I wanted to research Canada because I am proud of my Canadian heritage. I enjoy visiting the country because I can encounter all sorts of activities and opportunities I could never find in America. It is interesting to see how our cultures differ so much, yet also have so much in common. Overall, I enjoyed doing this project because I got to learn things I never knew about Canada
