2 What is Diku? Diku stands for Directorate for Internationalisation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education. They also now process our financial application and they are in charge of the Study in Norway media platform A close partner, specially in the EB. Help with ISU Stories and in very close contact with the Ministry of Education

3 Survey of International Students
Every 2-3 years, SIU (Now Diku) holds a survey for International students. The 2016 report, last published, was called “International students in Norway - Perceptions of Norway as a study destination” It explores the reputation of Norwegian higher education through the experiences of international students in Norway. It investigates the HEIs capacity to receive, integrate and educate international students in Norway.

4 Survey of International Students
According to the survey, the results show an overall high level of satisfaction with the education that the international students receive in Norway: 71 per cent are satisfied with the teaching, and as much as 84 per cent are satisfied with the teachers’ ability to teach in English. The survey results show that international students are coping well with their studies in Norway

5 Survey of International Students

6 Our Role as ISU National Board
We first had a meeting with Diku’s responsible for the survey in November. We discussed many things, including the survey. The EB later provided suggestions for the new survey. Six members of the NB agreed to be test pilots for the 2019 survey, essential to the success of said survey Have a question about international / administrative support for study or academic help? - How satisfied are you with information on how to engage with your student society i.e. the student democracy, study support? - What kind of housing do you live in or have lived in? - Does your housing arrangements have any connection to your ability to integrate or feel integrated? (Is it mostly international students?) Availability of information in English (at university + the community you live in) Is there a perceived language barrier or do you feel you face a language barrier? - How is your experience with renewing / extending your student permit? Experience with the renewal process? - Costs of living should be specific and include the visa fee as it is a yearly fee that all Int. students have to pay - Could the visa permit be improved? - Are they satisfied with the response from the university/college regarding exchange opportunities?

7 Information about the Survey
Testing of the survey will be from 1st to 8th of March The Survey takes around 20 min to complete It will be made public in order for all international students from the 15th of March to the 12th of April Having an event to answer the survey is not really good because of the data would be contaminated. But having an event to inform students of the survey and the past reports and why they are useful for the students

8 Questions?
