1.4 Pairs of Angles

Pairs of Angles Adjacent Angles- two angles that share a side and a vertex. Linear pair- a pair of adjacent angles who add up to be 180o

Practice Problems: Tell whether the angles are only adjacent, adjacent and form a linear pair, or not adjacent. AEB and BED

Practice Problem: Tell whether the angles are only adjacent, adjacent and form a linear pair, or not adjacent. AEB and BEC

Practice Problems: Tell whether the angles are only adjacent, adjacent and form a linear pair, or not adjacent. DEC and AEB

Other Types of Angles Complementary Angles- two angles who add up to be 90o Supplementary Angles- two angles who add up to be 180o

Practice Problems: Find the complement of F

Practice Problems:

Practice Problems:

Practice Problems: An angle is more than 3 times the measure of is complement. Find the measures of the angles. Check it out (Pg. 29, #3)

Practice Problems: Light passing through a fiber optic cable reflects off the walls of the cable in such a way that 1 ≅ 2, 1 and 3 are complementary, and 2 and 4 are complementary. If m1 = 47°, find m2, m3, and m4. Check it out (Pg. 30, #4)

Vertical Angles Vertical Angles- two nonadjacent angles formed by intersecting lines . (Across each other on an x) Vertical Angles are congruent

Practice Problems: Name the pairs of vertical angles.

Practice Problems: Find x and the measure of
