Fight or Flight “Stress is experienced when the person’s perceived social, environmental and physical demands exceed their ability to cope with the situation.” The experience of stress is influenced by our perception of the situation. The stress response was particularly important for our ancestors because bodily responses associated with stress were essential in the conditions of fight or flight.

Fight or Flight Nowadays, the stress response has stayed the same, but the stressors have changed, and our responses to stress may not be adaptive. There are two major bodily responses to stress; one for acute stress and one for chronic stress. Video
