BT YOUNG SCIENTIST 2014
The purpose of the competition is to encourage intrest in science in primrary and secondary schools. There were about 2000 entries in the 2014 competition which is the highest ever in the competition! The BT Young Scientists of the Year 2013 are Ciara Judge, Émer Hickey and Sophie Healy-Thow, third year students from Kinsale Community School, Co. Cork. The importance of encouraging students to take science and technology subjects at second and third level education cannot be overstated. The future economies of this country and indeed Western Europe are dependent upon the success of this action.
2014 will see the exhibition celebrate its 50th year making it one of the longest standing exhibitions of its kind in the world. The 2013 event was the largest exhibition to date. Over 1,200 students with 550 projects participated and over 45,000 people visited the Exhibition. Some of the ideas were a mind controlled robot and bullet proof gunk
