What is social structure?
Social structure is the network of interrelated statuses and roles that guide human interaction.

Status A socially define position in a group/society.

Ascribed and achieved status
Ascribed: A status beyond your control Ex. Price/princess, teenager, diabetic. Achieved: A stats on the basis of skill/ability/knowledge. Ex. Accountant, Student, Basketball player

A master status is the most important to a person’s identity.
Usually based on occupation. Can be based on marital status, wealth, etc.

Roles The behavior, rights, and obligations of occupying certain statuses.
