2 “The quintessential doer loves Jesus and the Church and expresses that love through serving. By that I mean their focus is on the work. Rarely do they look up, metaphorically speaking, to see what is happening elsewhere. Theirs is the lane that matters most. Children, greeting, outreach, worship or small groups is where it is. Since their head is down doing, they often don’t notice the number of workers in their lane has dwindled, that is until they begin to feel the pressure of producing more with less. They also begin to feel abandoned by leadership. Why won’t they help us? Send us some volunteers? Surely, they see how critical our lane is. ….What happens when you put a doer in a volunteer leadership position…they attract other people who are like themselves. So, doers attract other doers, not leaders”- Michael Fletcher: Empowering Leadership
