Using the graphic organizer provided, write down your initial response to each question given. This will be used as the basis for our Socratic Seminar today. It would also be beneficial for you to go ahead and have a question in mind you might like to pose during our discussion.

2. Fishbowl socratic seminar: guidelines
You must speak at least once. Speaking = Contributing something meaningful to the discussion that demonstrates your knowledge, understanding, or reflection on the book.
Only the “fish” inside the fishbowl can participate in the conversation.
When you want to move in to the fishbowl, you should come from the outside circle into one of the two hot seats. Only two students may be in the hot seats at any given time. Wait for a good moment to “tap” someone in the fishbowl into the hot seat so you can move in.
When you’re in the fishbowl – stay as long as you are actively participating. When you are satisfied with your discussion, get up and tap in someone from the outside who hasn’t participated yet.
