Definition Use of electronic technology to deliver and access course content from anywhere at any time. Interactive. Communication between teacher and student.

Possibility to preserve user privacy. Can be tailored to a specific group. Proven technologies and solutions available. Standardization of the content and structure.

Cons Some degree of familiarity with technology is required.
Some students might prefer being in a classroom. Technical issues. Reliable internet access a must. Potential lack of feedback from the trainee. It is easier to “cheat”.

Provided cost-free Moodle based IAEA provides a package. Hosting for external partners, not provided.

Conclusion E-Learning is a valuable tool widely used in training and competence building. As a first step, e-Learning can be used to complement ongoing or future SAET activities. There are many challenges to be tackled by the IAEA in order to provide complete modules. Feedback is key.
