August with the arrival of the Americans, the allies launch a series of attacks Canada was given charge of many attacks and almost all were successful Arras, Cambrai and Valenciennes- all under Arthur Currie German forces and material were exhausted- no reserves, no troops and no supplies Nov Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicates Armistice Nov , 11:00 am

8 Paris 1919 Paris world leaders (30 countries) meet to discuss peace terms All countries came with their own agendas (uhoh…), Germany and its allies were not allowed to participate Important moment for Canada- Canada was given its own seat, its own representation at the conference- we get to sit at the adult table!

11 League of Nations Collective Security- if one member is under attack, all members will come to the aid Not welcomes by everyone, the USA did not join it (despite it being President Wilson’s idea) We will see how successful this league was at preventing war…well there is a WWII, so we know it isn’t very successful
