2. Biography
George Crum was born on July 15,1824 in New York. George Crum was born into an African American family as an only child. Later in George Crum’s life he was hired at Moon’s Lake House where he is known to have invented the potato chip. After George Crum invented the potato chip he opened his own restaurant where he would sell his chips. George Crum died of natural causes on July 22,1914.

3. Invention
George Crum is most known for inventing the potato chip. George Cum was working Moon’s Lake House restaurant when a customer was being very picky and sent is french fries back to the kitchen because they were too thick for his liking. Crum decided to make the french fries so thin that he couldn’t eat them with a fork. When Crum handed the thin fries back they were crunchy chips that the customer actually enjoyed. George Crum originally named the chips saratoga chips but today we know them as potato chips.
