2 THE BASIC BUBBLE CHART Main Argument Susie’s ribbon is not a hat Does not cover her head Does not protect her head Supporting Argument Supporting Argument The bubble in the middle contains your main argument. Bubbles stemming off of that contain your supporting arguments.

3 Next, you start adding evidence to back up your supporting arguments.
Susie’s ribbon is not a hat Does not cover her head Does not protect her head Would not keep head dry Not fitted to her head Does not cover her whole head Too flimsy Explain to students that really, two pieces of evidence for each argument is not enough. This is just an example. Add more evidence . . . And more evidence . . . Until you have enough evidence to back up each supporting argument!
