Petition: The people have the right to ask the gov’t for wrongs to be corrected

A person on trial cannot be forced to give evidence or testify against themselves.
A person cannot be tried twice for the same crime-known as double jeopardy.
Gov’t cannot seize any private property for public use w/o paying the owner a fair price for it

A person accused of a crime has the right to a speedy, public trial by an impartial jury
The person has the right to know what they are accused of
The accused has the right to question all testimony, witnesses and evidence against him/her
The person has a right to a lawyer

An appeals court can set aside a verdict only if legal errors made the trial unfair

Forbids cruel and unusual punishments, such as physical torture
