James Chadwick By:Andrew and Quinton
2
Summary James Chadwick experimented with a beryllium nucleus, when combined with an alpha particle could be transmuted to a carbon nucleus. A proton releasing a particle mass comparable to that of a proton but with a neutral charge. James received the Nobel prize in 1935 for his discovery of the neutron.
3
Evidence Chadwick found out that that bombarding uranium nuclei with neutrons caused the nuclei to split into two almost equal pieces and to release energy in the very large amounts predicted by Einstein’s formula E=mc2. this phenomenon, kown as nuclear fision.
4
How chadwick changed the atomic model
He discovered the Neutron in atoms. Chadwick discovered the subatomic particle by using neutron chamber. Neutrons are either negative or positive but they contribute the same atomic weight.
