2. The Preamble
How do you think America is actually doing at achieving the goals set forth in the Preamble of our Constitution?
In the early days of the country?
Through the 20th Century?
Today?
20 years from now?

3. Article One
Why did the writers of the Constitution create two legislative houses?
Do you feel that this system is still important today?
Why or why not? (Consider population changes, checks and balances, political parties, etc.)

4. Article One (Section 10)
Why were rules imposed to limit the power of the states?
Is this still a good system?
Why or why not?
How do you feel about multiple petitions being circulated that call for several states to secede from the union?
What problems might secession cause and/or create?

5. Article 2
How has our system for electing Presidents and Vice Presidents changed?
Are the changes still Constitutional?
Are the changes good or bad?
Why?

6. Article Two Why did the writers set up the electoral college?
Do you feel that it is still important?
If it were amended, what do you think would be an effective system?

7. Article Three
Does the judicial branch still work in the way the founders designed it?
Why is it an important part of government?
Have political parties affected this branch at all?

8. Article Five
Now that you know how amendments are made, this is your chance to make one.
Consider our class to be the three branches of government (figure out who will serve where).
Come up with an amendment you would like to see passed, and make the system work to pass it.
