Motivation Cooking! There are so many things I love about cooking:
Explore new cultures, or a taste of home Necessary life-long skill, self- sustainment, nutrition Take chances, be creative Compassion/empathy I want to help my students understand that caring for one another and for themselves is a strength

Timeline 8-9 units I think the best way for me to tackle this project is to split the work into these tasks: themes and standards, assessment (formative and summative), texts (long and short mentors), assignments/practice, materials (videos, hands-on activities, etc.), and grade book. Right now I am thinking I will have one completed every two weeks, but I am planning on talking with Pam in OHs to solidify a plan.

Goals Keep myself accountable and meet the deadlines I set
Open a dialogue (student-teacher, or whole class) about importance of food within a culture, as well as for students individually Provide an opportunity to know my students on a deeper level Use my (anticipatory) knowledge of my diverse backgrounds to successfully differentiate my instruction
