Math 1

11.2 Comparing Integers Use a number line to compare integers (< or >) Compare 2 and -4. Which is less? The number -4 is to the left of 2, so -4 < 2 Compare -3 and -5. Which is greater? The number -3 is to the right of -5, so -3 > -5 Compare -4 and 0. Which is greater? Zero is to the right of -4, so 0 > -4

11.2 Ordering Integers Order the integers from least to greatest.
4, -2, 1 The number -2 is on the left, 1 is near the center, and 4 is on the right, so the order is -2, 1, 4 -2, 0, 2, -5 The number -5 is on the left, next is -2, then 0, and 2 is on the right, so the order is -5, -2, 0, 2

11.2 Order Integers: Story Problem
At a golf tournament, David scored +6, Billy scored -16, and Tom scored -4. Who won the tournament if the lowest score is best? The score -16 is on the left, -4 is near center, and +6 is on the right. Since scores on the left are lower than scores on the right, the score of -16 is best so Billy is the winner.
