Graphing Relations Lesson 1.6
2
You can use a graph to show the relationship between input and output.
The first step is to complete the input/output table. Then, create a graph that will coordinate with the table you created.
3
Complete this table... Input n Output 4n + 2 1 2 3 4 5
4
Plotting on a graph Output (Y-axis) Input (x-axis)
5
Try this one... Complete the table, and make a graph.
The cost of n CD’s in $’s is 12n. What is the cost of 1 CD? What is the cost of 5 CD’s? How many CD’s could you buy with 72$ Input (n) Output (12n) 2 4 6 8 10
6
A Word Problem for You Mr. Sam has 25 granola bars. He gives 3 granola bars to each student who stays after school to help. A) show a relation to show how the number of granola bars that remain is related to the number of helpers.
7
When you connect all the points, you will have a straight line.
This is called a linear relation. The graph shows that each time the input increases by 1, the output increases by 4.
