3. The last two lines in the poems are the same in that the meter changes, and the speaker makes a final statement that sums up the poem. They are different in that “Find Work” ends with a somber feel, and “My Mother Enters the Work Force” ends with an upbeat sense. 4. The tone of “Chicago” is proud and admiring. Text examples: ”husky,” “show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning,” and “tall bold slugger.” The tone of “Find Work” is sorrowful. Text examples: “heart anaesthetized and mute with labor,” “grief,” “lifelong practice of despair,” and “how painfully shown.”
