2. PROBLEM
283 divided by 6

3. Step 1- Division
See if the divisor can fit into the first digit of the dividend. If it doesn’t fit then combine the second digit with the first.

4. Step 2-Multiply
Multiply the divisor times the number of times that it goes into the number.

5. Step 3-Subract
The number you get out of the divisor x the number of times it can go into the number. Subtract it from the partial dividend.

6. Step 4-Compare
Compare the number you got from the difference to the divisor. If the difference is smaller, then you got your remainder. If the difference is bigger than the divisor then you continue the steps.

7. Step 5-Bring number down
Bring the next digit in the dividend (If there is one) down. See how many times the divisor can fit into the number you just created. Write the number at the top of the dividend.

8. Step 6- Repeat/Remainder
Repeat the steps if there is still more digits left. If there is no more digits, then you got your remainder.
