Turn in 12-4 and any late work.
Thursday, Feb 3rd Welcome to Biology! Turn in 12-4 and any late work. Prepare for your Daily Question.
2
Warm-Up Question After transcription, some mRNA strands are hundreds of thousands of codons long. If an error occurred during this process (for example, if AGCCGT was translated UCAAUA), what do you think will happen? Make your best educated guess on what percentage of the time a mutation is not advantageous for the animal. As always, use complete sentences and use the academic vocabulary you know.

Agenda Genetic Mutations (12-4) Review for Chapter 12 Quiz tomorrow!!!!

Genetic Mutations In molecular biology and genetics, mutations are unintended changes in a genomic sequence. Mutations are caused by many different things, including radiation and viruses, as well as errors that occur during meiosis, DNA replication, or transcription. Mutation can result in several different types of change in DNA sequences; these can either have no effect, alter the product of a gene, or prevent the gene from functioning properly or completely.

Mutation #1: Insertion

Mutation #2: Deletion

Mutation #3: Point
