A Few Days Before Exam Purchase all your ingredients and decorations
(NB: You may wish to share ingredients with your friends so that you can save money. This is especially useful with garnishing.) Prepare labels with your name and the name of the dish and a menu card (optional) Prepare sensory evaluation forms for yourself and your friends so they can try the dish Charge your camera batteries

1 Day Before the Practical
Go to the kitchen Collect all necessary equipment Ingredients Plates/table settings and place at your table

On day of practical Place your ingredients in a labelled plastic bag and put this plastic bag into the fridge. Dry ingredients can be placed on your table. 10 mins before practical to collect extra equipment and ingredients 2 hours for the practical (including garnishing and washing up) Bring a camera to take pictures of your dishes!

On The Day of The Practical
Remember that you only need to prepare enough portions for 2 people. DO NOT WASTE TIME TRYING TO PREPARE MORE! This is why planning is critical. Once you are finished cooking, finish presentation for the dishes, THEN continue washing up

TIPS Practise your dishes at home or at a friends house!
Bring more than 1 tea towel because there will be a significant amount of washing up to do Have a proper garnishing plan so you know exactly how you will garnish on the day of the exam. BRING EXTRA CONTAINERS TO CARRY YOUR COOKED FOOD!

FAQ You cannot pre-prepare the garnishes and bring them to school eg: carrot roses You cannot pre-cut your ingredients If you make fried rice you should boil the rice in the kitchen and place it in the freezer to quickly cool it during the practical
