5. The Black Panther Party
Founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale to fight police brutality in the ghetto
Advocated self-sufficiency, full employment, and decent housing
Established daycares and free medical clinics
Members felt African Americans should be exempt from military service
Preached self-defense and promoted Mao Zedong and communism
Got into many shootouts with the police
