HOPE consists of six different aid programs:
HOPE Scholarship Zell Miller Scholarship HOPE Grant Zell Miller Grant HOPE GED Grant Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant

HOPE Scholarship available to Georgia residents (minimum 1 year)
must graduate from high school with a minimum 3.0 grade point average Calculated by the GSFC- not DHS counselors Core GPA only Unweighted Add .5 quality points on the 4.0 scale to any AP classes

HOPE Scholarship Must have taken 4 RIGOR classes before graduation
Advanced Placement (AP) classes Dual Enrollment classes (academic only) Advanced Science classes- Chemistry, Human Anatomy, Physics Advanced Math classes- Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus or higher Advanced Foreign Language classes- second year or higher

HOPE Scholarship Pays approximately 80-85% of tuition assistance at a public institution in GA Private- approximately $4,000 towards tuition Must maintain a minimum 3.0 gpa in college Specific check points- 30, 60 and 90 credit hours 127 credit hour maximum (approximately a 4-year degree) seven-year limit

What if I’m not HOPE eligible?
There is HOPE!! You can earn the HOPE Scholarship if you have a 3.0 college GPA after one year or 30 credit hours You can also lose HOPE after one year if you DO NOT have a 3.0 GPA You can only regain HOPE one time if you lose it.

Zell Miller Scholarship
Named after the Governor Zell Miller who scripted this program during his legislation in 1992 Pays full standard tuition at a public institution in GA Eligibility- Val or Sal of senior class OR 3.7 gpa requirement (core, unweighted) 4 Rigor classes 1200 on SAT OR 26 on ACT OR Valedictorian of class Must maintain a 3.3 gpa in college to keep this scholarship Can regain Zell Miller one time. May be eligible for HOPE if you fall below a 3.3.

HOPE Grant provides tuition assistance (same rate as HOPE scholarship) to residents of Georgia pursuing Certificates or Diplomas at Georgia’s public postsecondary institutions TECHNICAL COLLEGES ie) Southern Crescent Technical College There is no required GPA to earn this grant; high school graduation not required Students are required to have a minimum 2.0 GPA college GPA at certain checkpoints. The purpose of the HOPE Grant Program is to encourage our GA students to obtain technical training in order to increase the knowledge and skills

Zell Miller Grant Similar to HOPE Grant No initial GPA requirement
Pays full standard rate tuition at GA technical schools Must maintain a 3.5 gpa at specific checkpoints

HOPE GED Grant and S.I.W.D.G Programs
available to Georgia residents who earned a General Education Development (GED) diploma provides a one-time $500 HOPE award that can be used at an eligible college or university in Georgia Full-time enrollment is not required Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant (SIWDG) available to Georgia residents who are pursuing a certificate or diploma at a GA Tech school provides assistance toward educational costs for eligible students enrolled in an approved designated program of study Welding Early Childhood Nursing Commercial truck driving
