1. Summarizer ( 2 people) – Highlight the key idea
2. Questioner-  pose questions about the video: unclear parts, puzzling
information, connections to other concepts already learned
3. Clarifier (2 people)- address confusing parts and attempt to answer the
questions that were just posed.
4. Word Watcher- define terms that would be important to know from this
video

5. Practice Writing a Thesis Statement!
Using the question posed in our class essay organizer lets write a thesis statement:
High school students should be required to complete a mandatory paid co-op placement before they graduate.

6. Writing the Introduction
Once you have a strong thesis statement you need to write the introduction for your essay.
The introduction to an essay has 3 parts:
1. A general statement about the topic: Always begin your intro making a general
statement about the topic (2-4 sentences).
2. Move into the novel: Connect the statement to the novel and give a brief summary of
the novel. (2-4 sentences).
3. End with thesis: Connect the summary to your topic and end with the thesis. (2-4
sentences)
