Activity – Italian, German Jewish, non-German Jewish and Lithuanian immigration
Your group will be given a pack of sources on ONE of the ITALIANS, LITHUANIANS, GERMAN JEWS and NON-GERMAN JEWS. Your aim is for everyone in the group to gather as many notes as possible about each group! You will be timed! At the end of the time given, you will pass on your pack and be given another one, and so on.

Recap… Lithuanians Came to Scotland to escape persecution in Eastern Europe. To escape extreme poverty in Eastern Europe (particularly in rural areas). There were jobs and higher wages in Scotland.

Recap… Non-German Jews Came to Scotland to escape persecution in Russia. Many continued on to America. Many Jews came to Scotland to study at universities and some opened businesses such as jewellers.

Recap… German Jews Came to Scotland to escape persecution in Nazi Germany. The UK accepted 10,000 children on the kindertransport. Many Jews took advantage of the good education opportunities.
