1 Bell Ringer Solve this two-step equation: –9x – 13 = – 103

2 Objectives SWBAT solve two-step linear equations;
SWBAT define linear inequalities and inequality signs; SWBAT determine whether an ordered pair is a solution for the inequality.

3 Schedule Bell Ringer Notes and Examples on Inequalities
Page 361 and 364 (Individual work)

4 Hour 5—Schedule Bell Ringer Board of Brilliance Conversation
Notes and Examples on Inequalities Page 361 and 364 (Individual work)

5 Signs < means less than 3 < 8 > means greater than 4 > -2
≠ means not equal to 9 ≠ 13 ≤ less than or equal to x ≤ 7 ≥ greater than or equal to d ≥ 5

6 Inequalities Inequality is a comparison between two values that are not equal. Like linear equalities but DIRECTION OF INEQUALITY SIGN matters.

7 Inequalities Continued
Adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing on both sides until the variable is isolated. DIRECTION CHANGE if rewriting to have variable on the left OR multiplying/dividing both sides by a negative number.

8 Examples 12 < x + 5 –5x > 25

9 Page 361 (Red)

10 Page 364 Problems 2, 3, 4, 12, 13, and 14 Tomorrow’s: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 19, 20, and 21.

11 Bell Ringer Draw a 5 by 5 grid (example is on board the) and plot the following points: (3, -2) (4, -5) (-5, 5) (2, 1)

12 Objectives SWBAT explore the Pythagorean Theorem through coordinate grids.

13 Schedule Bell Ringer Instructions on packet

14 Instructions Name! Write the coordinates (A). Count and answer.
Think it through for Problem 1.1 Follow-Up. 1 has 12 answers; 2 has 11; 3 is each labeled landmark.

15 Further Instructions Problem 1.2—include direction (North, East, South, West) and distance for directions. Do EVERY problem there is. Problem 1.2B requires a ruler.
