1 Patient and Staff Experience Thematic Reviews
Through data analysis, gain insight and develop action plans to deliver improved patient and staff experience

2 The challenge: too much data and not enough time to plan sustainable change
Staff and patients question the value of experience surveys and research Trusts face an excess of data Derived from a variety of sources and in different formats Underlying issues and themes can be missed on a macro level Findings from major surveys sit in isolation The development of strategic priorities, clear messages and action plans are time consuming, complicated and costly Key findings and actions do not become embedded in the system Picker

3 The solution: Patient and Staff Experience Thematic Reviews A tailored programme of work that enables you to take control of your patient and staff experience data to drive improvement programmes at a trust and locality level We will conduct an in-depth and extensive review of selected patient and/or staff experience surveys to analyse key themes, that will help you shape your action plans for sustainable improvement. A statistical review can be added as an optional extra Findings will be reported and disseminated via a management report, with optional presentation or workshop to key stakeholders

4 How the programme works
Consultancy meeting with key stakeholders to determine project scope and objectives Review of survey data and integration of data sources Commonalities of themes are examined including optional statistical review Reporting with key insights highlighted Optional presentation, workshop and action planning Picker

5 Thematic review analysis and reporting
Reporting is matched to your trust’s priorities. We use innovative visual reporting tools to help you easily identify improvements or areas of concern. Reports will include: Executive summary Overview of results Combined analysis of all data (including historical changes and comparisons to other trusts) Individual analysis of each data source(s) Focused priority reporting (site, specialties or patient groups) Write up of workshop, including action plans, as applicable Conclusion Picker

6 Research approach Our research review uses an integrated approach to your results by combining historical, external and internal benchmarking to provide an aggregate insight. Common themes are identified to help drive improvement at a trust and locality level. The reporting is tailored to your needs focusing on your priorities, for example the differing experiences at sites, within specialties or regarding specific patient groups. Adding a statistical review provides a deeper understanding while improving the validity of your report. This optional extra enables cross-comparison of your results within specific domains of care. Where there are areas your trust has performed substantially outside the expected range, this will be explored, unpacking the trust’s performance relative to others that we work with, enabling benchmarking against key performance areas. Picker

7 Statistical review analysis and reporting to add greater depth and insight
This optional extra enables cross-comparisons of your results within specific domains of care. This will help you draw stronger conclusions about your results across the Trust as a whole and to base your improvements on the best evidence. Comparing your results to all Trusts Picker works with in a specific area. Showing your performance across all national experience data for key domains e.g. information Picker
