2. Describing Position
In order to describe an object’s motion, you must first be able to describe its POSITION.
POSITION: where an object is located
You describe position all the time!

3. How do you describe the position of an object?
You need 3 things:
A REFERENCE POINT
DISTANCE from the reference point
DIRECTION from the reference point

4. For Example… How would you describe the position of the house??
The house is 15 METERS EAST of the APPLE TREE.
15 METERS

Why is it important to use a reference point when describing position?
